Wilson said her father "never said anything" about that chapter and that she "still can't get over" the discovery. She reflected on her Greek Orthodox family's tendency toward privacy and how the date Dec. 26 resurfaces in her family: her sister's firstborn and her youngest son were also born on that day, which makes her think of Emil.

Wilson, married to Tom Hanks since 1998, shares four adult children — Colin, Elizabeth, Chet and Truman. She spoke about the revelation on the podcast How to Fail With Elizabeth Day (episode posted April 21).
